What My Students Say

Edited Piano.JPG

"Amy has been a mentor and friend to me for over a decade. I started voice lessons with her as a freshman in 2005 and continued to be her student through high school in which I received a 1 rating for All-District and All-State Solo Contests each year. I went on to college at Graceland University where Ms. Jeffers was my vocal professor for lessons and other specialized courses such as vocal pedagogy and diction (2008-2013). Her expertise is wonderfully detailed knowledge of the voice and vocal literature. She can teach any genre because of her vast knowledge and passion for vocal music. Not only does she know the literature for many voice types, she also cares a lot about her students, their growth and development. I have been so blessed because I have learned much from her and consider her one of my dear friends. Amy has a nurturing, loving teaching approach and helps students gain confidence with positivity, attention to details and striving for beautiful, healthy singing. I went on to Kansas State University and received a masters in Music in 2015. And now I am a Music Teacher at Blackburn Elementary for the Independence School District. I highly recommend Ms. Amy Jeffers as a vocal coach to anyone wanting to grow and further their vocal skills whether they are exploring their voice as a student or are a professional vocalist wanting to fine tune their skills."

"I think part of what I liked most about voice lessons with Amy is that she was very good at adapting to whatever it was that I needed. Technique, song selection (whether for choir, a musical, or just for fun), even what parts of my voice we worked on. She helped me grow my confidence gradually over time, in my voice but also in general, as some of the things she taught me bled over into the rest of my life as well. It was also never just vocal lessons either. She always checked in and would listen without judgment, regardless of how cagey I was or how heavy the topic might be, and for that, I am so grateful."

"I wanted to improve, but as a vocal coach, I needed someone with a high-level of expertise and experience. Amy is my first recommendation to other students that I can't coach. I have found great growth myself, and only hear great things from students I have sent her way."

"I went to Amy's studio about 13 years ago now.  And to this day, I still use her warm-up exercises anytime I prepare to sing.  She always gave clear, precise instruction that had a practical, physical change I can implement.  In particular, what really drew me to her was that she understood I wanted to just do Musical Theater songs.  I didn't want to become an opera singer.  And she LET me do that.  She didn't push me into the other area like other teachers have tried.  She just let me sing what I wanted to sing.  And for that, I will always be grateful.  You only have to look at her name to know my grade for her.  Amy is A+."

"I have worked with Ms. Jeffers for almost the entirety of my high school career and with her, there is never a dull moment! I have grown tremendously in my technique, performance, and confidence! Even outside of the studio, she is a wonderful mentor and friend. I look forward to another year with her!"

"I studied under Ms. Jeffers for two years. I have learned so many amazing tools I still use in my singing and different techniques in order to get the best sound possible. But Ms. Jeffers is more than just a vocal coach/teacher. She has become a part of my family. She has always been there for me through my struggles of the passing of a friend, battling anxiety and depression, and through the hard times of COVID. I am forever thankful for all Mrs. Jeffers has taught me, in music and in life."
